Harmony 1

1.     To be familiar with and able to write major, minor, augmented, diminished triads in root position and inversions

2.  To be familiar with and able to write major sevenths, dominant sevenths, minor sevenths, half – diminished sevenths, and diminished sevenths in root position and inversions

3.       Be familiar with the chord symbols

4.    To write four – part harmony in chorale style in major keys, modulate to the dominant, rhythmic and melodic interest, using chord symbols and figures as required.  The first measure may be given to indicate the style

5.       To harmonize a given melody and or base in keyboard style

6.       To find and write the credential 6/4 chord

7.       To add a second part above or below a given melody in 18th century counterpoint style

8.       To analyze a short passage in Binary or Rounded Binary form

9.       To identify and analyze Baroque Dances

10.   To write and identify non-– chord notes, i.e. passing notes, neighbor notes, appoggiaturas
